New Mexico Requirement Detail for Real Estate Continuing Education
Continuing Education and License Renewal Date: Every three years
Hours Required By The State: 36 hours
Associate Brokers:
- 36 CE Credit Hours Required every 3 years: (max 10 hrs from "Training" category)
- 4 hour Annual Core Course required every year = 12 hours total in 3 year cycle (replaces 8 Hr Mandatory )
- 4 hour Core Elective course every 3 years (residential, commercial, prop management, vacant land/ ranch)
- 4 hours of Ethics Elective course every 3 years
Qualifying Brokers:
- 36 CE Credit Hours Required every 3 years (max 10 hrs from "Training" category):
- All QB’s must take Qualifying Broker Refresher Course (6 hrs) every 3 years - No CE Credit Issued for this
- 4 hour Annual Core Course required every year = 12 hours total in 3 year cycle
- 8 hours of Core Electives course every 3 years
- 4 hours of Ethics Elective course every 3 years
- QBs must attend either a NMREC Commission Meeting or a NMREC Disciplinary Hearing once in their 3 year cycle for up to 3 hours or to the meeting or hearing adjournment into Executive Session which ever is first.
Reporting: Real estate course completions are reported to the New Mexico Real Estate Commission. The state requires schools to report course completions within three days from the course completion date. Course completions will be reported within this time frame.
Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date. Each course has an individual expiration date which is listed in our account.
Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with at least a 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.
Certificates: Upon completion of the course, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate of Completion with your license renewal request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date of your Certificate of Completion will reflect this.
Additional Licensing Information:
License Renewal Process: The process to renew in this state is to submit your paperwork via mail.
Additional Education Requirements for Qualifying Brokers: All active qualifying Brokers are required to successfully complete a 6-hour qualifying Broker refresher course as a condition of license renewal or as a condition of reinstatement of qualifying Broker status regardless of age or years of licensure. This course does not qualify for CE credit. The CE Shop does not offer this course.
Post-Licensing: Associate Brokers licensed for the first time on or after January 1, 2012, must complete the 30-hour New Broker Practices course within their first year of licensure. The CE Shop does not offer this course at this time.
